• ‘The boys and staff really enjoyed your storytelling sessions... it was great!’

    Juliet Vaughan

  • ‘The horned owl was the chief of a clan of wicked owls, and he had fallen in love with the maiden as she wandered in his forest.’
  • 'We work in the field of learning disability and Daniel always stays calm, whatever comes up... his quiet, controlled style makes him perfect for the field. He can make the work very meaningful, while still being great fun for all the individuals concerned.’

    Grant Mclay
    Upward Mobility
  • 'He gathered all the children round him and told them stories of animals, strange beings and fairies. They were mesmerised. Over the three years of Fringe by the Sea we have had many children's entertainers... Daniel was without doubt the most successful.'

    Rosie Wales

  • Bookings can be for half or full days, consecutive days or repeated visits over a longer period.

I can tell stories on different themes for individual classes or use a single theme for every session. If you would like your pupils to experience storytelling, but are unsure of what theme would be appropriate, please get in touch and we can discuss it. Most schools are keen to tie storytelling into the curriculum and I am always happy to research and adapt my sessions to suit your needs.

I believe there is a great wealth of knowledge and inspiration in each story, and therefore produce worksheets which give a summary of the individual story followed by questions which can be used for discussion in class or individual work. These can be used as part of English, R.E or P.S.E classes.

  • I have worked extensively with children and young people with additional support needs, both in educational settings, at home and in the community.

The stories used in these sessions are chosen for their potential to incorporate music, movement and creative response, resulting in a highly interactive and enjoyable experience which meets a wide range of needs.

Bookings can be for half or full days, consecutive days or repeated visits over a longer period.

  • I have performed at a wide range of festivals, including the Scottish International Storytelling Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Fringe by the Sea, the Myths & Legends Festival, North Light Festival, the Singing Sticks Didgeridoo Festival and a sell-out show at the Edinburgh Book Festival .

I offer storytelling performances and workshops for adults and children, with length and content tailored to meet your requirements.

  • Storytelling sessions and workshops can be for entertainment or business development. The stories told for business development can explore values such as leadership, personal responsibility and integrity, resourcefulness and community. Space is given for group reflection and discussion as well as techniques for further integrating and exploring the stories.
